One Saturday a month we gather at the Woodchuck Hill Field & Forest Preserve to explore and visit the Forest Preschool set ups. But this month we're shaking things up with a luminary-making party to prepare for our winter solstice celebration!

We'll meet in the FabLab at 11 and make luminaries for our solstice spiral walk. We'd like to make as many punched tin lanterns as possible (they're more durable), but we'll provide bags to decorate too for hands not interested in hammers. We'll have a couple extra cans, but bringing your own would be ideal!

Your can may be any size, as long as it's empty of food so that you can fill it with water and freeze it the day before you come. The ice inside will prevent it from bending while you tap the holes. It would also be good to bring a small towel to fold up under your can to keep it from rolling away on the table as you punch, and an extra hammer if you have one.

Come meet like-minded families and prepare to welcome a new season. Please note this is not a drop-off program.

Creatures in the Wild is a 501(c)(3)-pending organization. There is no cost to attend this event, but we welcome a suggested donation of $5 per child to help fund our loose parts playground at the Woodchuck Hill Field & Forest Preserve. Thank you!
